R&D SPECIALIST

 

RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

-        Innovate new products and improve existing products; which includes developing new product concepts for rationalization, developing prototypes of requested products, developing new iterations, adjusting recipes, establishing specifications, coordinating production tests and supporting the initial roll out of the product

-        Testing raw materials for use in new and existing products; which includes, researching new food technologies, evaluating specifications, testing new raw materials and approving the final specifications and formula changes

-        Testing and presenting cost improvements through raw material substitutions, recipe processing modifications, in-house production of ingredients, etc.

-        Troubleshooting issues with existing products; which includes assisting production managers in solving quality or productivity issues, testing and troubleshooting products by modifying formulas and/or production conditions and then communicating, implementing and ensuring changes are made at the production level

-        Drive innovations in the Bakery Products business via development of novel products and product technologies

-        In-depth understanding of bakery/food ingredients and their textural properties in dough

-        Able to trouble shoot technical or formulation problems with customers when needed

-        Sound understanding of industrial processes and manufacturing equipment

-        Up to date on advances in bakery food technologies, food safety, nutrition, ingredient functionality

-        Others as required by the Department Head.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

-        Polytechnic diploma in Baking & Culinary Science/Applied Food Science and Nutrition, or degree in Food Science & Technology,

-        At least 5 years bakery experience.

-        Experienced in Creative and Artistic bakery product development, cost effective and pragmatic bakery solutions

-        Development of bakery fillings and icings for the Food Service and in-bakery markets.

-        Internal and external acknowledgement of expertise in major or multiple product categories.

-        Creative ability with New Product development process and methodologies

-        Good Microsoft Office experience, including Excel and PowerPoint.

-        Excellent communication skills, Problem solving skills, Technical skills, Leadership skills

-        Good attention to detail

-        Good team working abilities
